A 17 year old student from Surrey has won his dream car - a brand new Vauxhall Corsa - thanks to a competition run in young driver’s magazine First Car by Marmalade, leading provider of cars and telematics-based insurance for young drivers
The lucky winner was randomly selected from over 45,000 competition entries and as part of the prize has been signed up to Marmalade’s New Driver Insurance policy which will offer black box insurance cover for one year.
Marmalade’s black box technology monitors each journey and flags any risky driving. If the young driver has a “red” or unsafe journey, a member of the customer service team will ring up to talk it through to make sure the driver understands why the journey was flagged.
The technology encourages young drivers to develop safe and responsible driving skills by highlighting areas for improvement. As well as this personal service, the telematics package also comes with e-learning modules to help the young person improve their knowledge of the road.
Brandon Mayuga, a student from Camberley, Surrey, won the car having entered the competition in June. He said: “I couldn’t believe it when I took the call from FirstCar to tell me I had won – it was amazing. I was saving to buy myself a Corsa once I passed my practical test, it’s my dream car! I cannot wait to get behind the wheel and enjoy my prize. First stop is a day trip to the beach!”
Mila Mayuga, Brandon’s mum, said: “The whole family is in disbelief at winning this car, we’re so grateful. Brandon has also promised to help me ferry his younger brothers around. What makes this prize even better is the black box insurance from Marmalade which will give me peace of mind and help Brandon become a safer driver.”
Crispin Moger, CEO of Marmalade, says: “Marmalade’s ethos on driving is all about enjoyment and safety. We’re proud to be champions of young drivers and using our black box technology ensures our customers can be safer whilst enjoying the independence of driving. It was a pleasure to meet Brandon and to hand over the keys to his new Corsa – a thoroughly deserving winner.”
