Crispin Moger, Managing Director. Crispin has spent over 20 years working in various management roles within the motor and insurance industry.
As Managing Director of Marmalade, Crispin has made significant contributions to the company with gross profits now exceeding £3 million in two years, from £500,000 achieved in the first year of trading. In 2010 Marmalade was also listed as one of Start Up Magazine’s top 100 companies.
Immediately prior to joining Marmalade, Crispin worked as Sales Manager for Cars From Europe, helping the company increase turnover from £280,000 to £560,00 in six months. He had a number of responsibilities including managing corporate accounts and development as well as working with manufacturers to secure competitive terms and efficient service throughout the company as a whole.
Crispin is an Honours graduate in History from London Metropolitan University and is a Member of Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety. He was also the recipient of the BT Business Entrepreneur of the Year 2008. Crispin is a trained LTA Tennis coach and enjoys swimming and travelling.
Guy Knight, Marketing Director. Guy joined Marmalade in February 2015, continuing a career in financial services already covering the insurance, investment banking, stockbroking, and retail banking sectors. His responsibility at Marmalade includes all aspects of marketing and PR, with a particular emphasis on digital marketing given the demographic of Marmalade’s 17-24 year old customers.
Guy has held a variety of Marketing, General Management and Board positions within UK and international companies including The Share Centre, Hiscox Insurance, Deutsche Bank, Charles Schwab Corp, Credit Agricole, The Mortgage Corporation and Nationwide Building Society.
He has extensive experience of media relations having been the key spokesperson for Charles Schwab (Europe), a subsidiary of NYSE-listed Charles Schwab Corp, a brokerage and banking company, based in San Francisco, California. Guy was a regular speaker on the European conference circuit and frequently represented the company on broadcast, print and online media.
Guy was attracted by Marmalade’s business ethic which is totally focused on keeping young drivers safe on the road. The young driver segment had historically been shunned by insurers who found they could not make money without charging exorbitant premiums. Marmalade have used a blend of innovative insurance products and technology to enable young drivers to learn to drive and subsequently become independent and safe on the roads.
Andy Martin, Sales Director. Andy is a qualified Chartered Marketer with over 28 years’ experience in management positions within the insurance and finance industry.
Andy took on a full time role at Marmalade in 2010 having been involved on a part time basis since 2004. He is responsible for implementing sales in order to meet company targets for retention growth and profitability. As a board member, Andy also contributes to the executive management of the company.
Before joining Marmalade, Andy was Partner Account Director at The Children’s Mutual, a position created for him to develop Child Trust Fund business through major national and regional distribution financial services partners. During this time Andy developed the business to a position where one in three babies born in the UK had their Child Trust Fund with The Children’s Mutual. From 2001 to 2004, Andy was Head of Sales at Can Do Finance ltd, where he achieved an increase of net profits during the last financial year by 13% (£2.2m to £2.5m) through increasing sales turnover by 11% and introducing efficiencies.
He was in a similar role at Andersen Consulting in AMP, where he managed and maintained the technical detail of mortgage product and processes and lead the customer Service Team Leaders to ensure that the service and quality objectives were extended to the 2,000 strong sales force. Andy has also held senior positions at Norwich and Peterborough Building Society where he spent 14 years working his way up from the role of Trainee Manager to National Sales Manager.
Nick Moger, Founder and Chairman. Nick Moger, entrepreneur and founder of Marmalade has had a string of successful businesses over the past few decades in financial, insurance and technology sectors.
Nick qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1968 and became a Fellow of Chartered Accountants in 1978. He started off his career working for American Express in its European Audit division. He then moved to Price Waterhouse (now known as PWC) in Brussels and then on to Itel International as Chief Accountant for Europe
In 1975, Nick spotted a gap in the market and decided to set up his own business and SafeStore, the self storage company, was born. Following the successful sale of SafeStore in 1980, Nick became Director at Alfa Micro Systems, developers and manufacturers of Computers, based in the UK and California. In 1982 Nick became President of DTI Data Terminals Inc. a VDU manufacturer based in Boston, Massachusetts.
After DTI Data Terminals Inc. Nick became a consultant, working with various companies across many sectors helping with strategy and business development until he founded Young Marmalade in 2006.
When Nick is not spending time on his boat and travelling, he enjoys playing golf and visiting his children and grandchildren.
