Marmalade partners with RAC to offer drivers breakdown services

According to a survey of customers conducted by Marmalade, the leading provider of cars and insurance for young drivers, breaking down is the biggest worry young drivers have when they take to the road.

The survey revealed that the top five most common worries for young drivers include:

  1. Breaking down (16%)
  2. Junctions/roundabouts (13%)
  3. Busy traffic/cities (11%)
  4. Parking/manoeuvre (8%)
  5. Driving in bad weather conditions (8%)

This latest research indicates that a lot of anxiety for young drivers is based on their lack of experience or knowledge of what to do if things go wrong. To help their customers overcome this, Marmalade has teamed up with the RAC to offer Breakdown cover as a benefit for their New Driver Insurance customers who are driving their own car.

Crispin Moger, CEO of Marmalade, says: “Feeling anxious behind the wheel can put a lot of stress on a young driver and makes drivers more at risk on the road, as it affects their concentration. We want to take the fear out of driving for those who have recently passed their driving test, which is why we are so keen to partner with the team at the RAC and working with them to the benefit of those we insure.”

RAC road safety spokesman Pete Williams said: “With over 1,500 experienced patrols on the road 365 days 24/7 we are here to help motorists when they suffer a breakdown. Whether it is a puncture, a flat battery or a serious engine fault we are always on hand and our highly qualified patrols fix four out of five vehicles at the roadside in an average of 30 minutes so they will get you back on the road as swiftly as possible.”

Marmalade will offer customers two RAC membership options, Roadside, Recovery and at Home or Roadside, Recovery, at Home and Onward Travel.
